Prepare:

Always exfoliate before a sunless tan with a non-oil based scrub or natural loofah.

For the smoothest application and a long lasting tan, exfoliate the skin 2-3 days in a row prior to application.

This will ensure you remove as many dead skin cells as possible for a flawless sunless tan.

Make sure to exfoliate the entire body where the sunless tanner will be applied and focus on the areas that are prone to dryness such as:

Shaving should be done 24 hours prior to application.

Waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior to application.

Laser hair removal should be done 4 or 5 days prior to a spray tan.

Please refrain from using sunless tanners for at least 2 weeks prior to a laser hair removal appointment.

Avoid applying any perfume, cream, lotion, deodorant and makeup before a self tanning application, a clean canvas is always best.

Barrier cream however, may be applied to hands and feet as well as any other dry spots. (This will prevent those areas from developing too dark or patchy, for a more even finish.)

Be sure to avoid any moisture while your tan is developing, such as water and sweating.

Any area that gets wet while your sunless tan is developing can end up lighter, spotty or streaky.

Maintain:

Take lukewarm showers.

Pat your skin dry with a towel, never rub the skin.

Please hold off on moisturizing your skin until after your second shower, and refrain from applying moisturizer following your first rinse.

Use oil free and fragrance-free moisturizer to prevent stripping the tan.

Keeping your skin hydrated will prolong the lifespan of the tan.

Moisturize and drink plenty of water to keep your skin healthy from the outside and from within.

Avoid exfoliating the skin until you are getting ready for your next sunless tan application.

If you notice your tan fading, you may gently exfoliate to get rid of the dead skin cells and even out the tan.

Your tan will continue to develop for the next 24 hours.

While uncommon, a sunless tan can develop differently during various hormonal cycles.

Factors such as ovulation, menstruation, and even elevated stress levels may result in a lighter tan.

Avoid chlorine pools, hot tubs, saunas and excessive sweating.
